Dear
Teacher,
The Metro
Kansas City Model United Nations (MKCMUN) is a complex simulation which can
provide a rewarding educational experience for participants. By simulating the
structure and operations of the United Nations, MKCMUN gives its participants
the opportunity to experience the international milieu that the diplomats
experience themselves. For the ninth straight year, Johnson County Community
College United Nations Team will offer this unique educational opportunity to
metro area high school students.
Metropolitan
Kansas City Model United Nations (MKCMUN) will be a one day event held
Wednesday April 21, 2010 from 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on the

We are very concerned
about keeping your expenses to a minimum.
Therefore, the participation fee will be $50 per delegation.
Each
participant should bring at least $5 dollars for lunch at the JCCC cafeteria.
Delegation
size will be from 4 to 5 students (per delegation or country). A list of
countries available is attached.
MKCMUN has web pages that are part of the
MKCMUN Rules
We have made every
effort to simplify the complicated rules used at Model United Nations. These rules are spelled out in the Procedural
Primer page of the MCKMUN website (Rules).
Resolutions,
and Position Papers (see)
Position
papers are now an element of judging in selecting the overall team awards. In
order for a team to be considered for an overall award the team must have
submitted a complete position paper package (one per each committee on which
that country is seated), the papers must be in the prescribed format. Please
email position papers to bwright1@jccc.edu
Resolutions represent the
formal decisions of the UN bodies; they may simply register an opinion, or recommend
action to be taken by a UN organ or related agency. There will be no advanced
submission of draft resolutions. Resolutions will be developed by delegates in
committee.
(Please
see MCKMUN website for details mkcmun.htm)
