The Johnson County Community College UN Team offers students (including area high school students who are enrolled in College Now) an excellent opportunity to learn more about how the world's nations act together to solve global problems and reduce suffering around the world. By competing in model UN simulations against teams from other colleges and universities from around the world, team members gain valuable skills in large-group problem solving, decision making and consensus building. JCCC is the only institution in this area offering this outstanding opportunity to college students.
Since 1997, the JCCC team has been steadily building a winning reputation as one of the best model UN teams of any type of college or university as it regularly defeats teams from some of the largest and best known universities.
Recently the JCCC UN Team became the first college chapter of the United Nations Association (UNA) in this region and team members now serve on the Board of Directors of the Kansas City Chapter of UNA
During the 2003-2004 school year, the JCCC UN team will compete in the following model United Nations representing one of the UN member nations:

The UN club also sponsors and conducts the Metropolitan Kansas City Model UN (MKCMUN), offering area high school students the opportunity to participate in a model UN simulation. The 2004 MKCMUN will be in Friday February 27 and Saturday February 28, 2004.
Students interested in joining should contact Dr. Brian Wright, UN Team Faculty Advisor, at (913) 469-8500 ext. 4266. or email bwright1@jccc.net
